NPO app renewed with paid subscription for HD video

Episodes of the NPO can finally also be viewed in HD and without advertising. You have to pay for this: 2.95 euros per month.

NPO app renewed

The Dutch Public Broadcaster completely renewed its app on Tuesday. In addition, some useful functions have been added, the most important of which is the arrival of NPO Start, for which registration is mandatory. Start comes in a free version and a paid version, Start Plus. It costs EUR 2.95 per month and offers additional functions.

The NPO app can also be used without registration and payment. In that case you can watch programs from NPO 1, 2 and 3 and theme channels (live), you can see the TV guide and you can search programs. You can also stream videos to television via Chromecast and AirPlay.

Free with registration

If you register for the free version of NPO Start, the app will remember where you left off in a program. This way you can look further at a different time on a different device. It is also possible to create profiles, with which you can, for example, install a safe environment for children. With this version you can add favorite shows so you don’t miss anything, create your own watch list and get personal recommendations.

NPO Start Plus

In addition to free versions of the app, you can also take out a paid subscription. NPO Start Plus costs 2.95 euros per month. The first month you can test for free whether you like the added value. With Start Plus you can watch programs in HD for up to a year after broadcast. That also means that free users still cannot look back in HD. You can also skip advertising for a fee and more series are available.

Besides NPO Start Plus, NLZiet will also continue to exist. That is a separate subscription of 7.95 euros per month with which you can not only watch programs from NPO, but also from RTL XL and KIJK.
