Autonomous into the dredging
Always wanted to conquer tough slopes but doubt your off-road skills? Then you have to be at Jeep later. The brand gives a glimpse of what it should be possible to do autonomously in models of the brand in the future.
Anyone who said a decade or so ago that Jeep would sell an electric compact crossover and plug-in hybrid SUVs might have been met with a frown. Jeep has not only embraced modern drive technologies, but is also interested in the chapter ‘autonomous driving.’ The brand now gives a glimpse of the autonomous skills that models of the brand may have in the future.
Jeep has released a short video in which two plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokees 4xe drive autonomously over difficult terrain in Moab, Utah. According to Jeep, the autonomous technology it has in house is suitable for “[…] improve the off-road experience of seasoned adventurers”, but Jeep owners who have less off-road experience should also benefit from the technology. We see Jeeps driving completely independently and even with no one behind the wheel over rocky terrain.
Detailed information is not yet released by Jeep. In the summer, Jeep will provide a more comprehensive picture of the autonomous techniques that models of the brand can benefit from in the future.
