Modern cars think along with you. Thanks to all kinds of assistance systems (ADAS), you as a driver should arrive at your destination more relaxed and safer. But how do you prevent that car from irritating?
Let’s start by introducing the term ‘ADAS’. Because that is a nice short, but comprehensive concept. It is the abbreviation for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and that is the umbrella under which many systems fall. These are smart facilities that ensure that your car can, for example, park itself, keep your distance or suddenly recognize danger. Abbreviations such as ACC, PDC, EBC are often unclear or unknown. The effect is sometimes unknown, unexpected or even irritating. That in itself is dangerous. But if you know what a system does and how it works, you know what to expect from it and that improves safety.
