Oil prices plunge: favorable prospects for the pump

Fuel prices have already fallen slightly in recent weeks, but logically the decline will continue for a while. Oil prices fell the most in a year on Wednesday and will continue to fall today.

On Wednesday, oil prices posted their biggest decline in more than a year on signs that oil demand is weakening due to recession concerns. Then oil prices fell more than five percent. The decline continues on Thursday. Prices have been on a downward trend since the end of last month and are now approximately back to the level of mid-August. Now prices are around $84 per barrel. Fuel prices have already dropped somewhat and will logically fall further as a result. It usually takes some time before the price drop on the global oil market is noticeable at the pump.

According to consumer organization UnitedConsumers, the recommended retail price for a liter of Euro95 is now €2,234. That was still €2,302 on September 19. The recommended retail price for diesel is now €2,076. That was more than €2.10 last month. With most pumps you will spend (much) less than the recommended prices. A liter of petrol (E10) now costs less than €2 in some places and we will probably see that more often in the future.
