If you go on holiday in Europe, you have to pay close attention to your speed in the coming period due to a flash marathon. These apps show the speed cameras.
European flash marathon
The flash marathon means that there is one day on European roads for a week that speeding is being checked for 24 hours. This is performed by Roadpola partnership of 29 European police forces. It is not clear where and when exactly extra is checked.
Last April there was a similar flash marathon. At that time, according to Roadpol, no fewer than 150,000 speed violations were registered. Apps that warn about speed cameras are of course no guarantee that you will not be flashed, but they do reduce the chance. Flits apps are forbidden in a number of countries. Some work in those countries, but that does not apply to all apps.
These apps warn of speed cameras
There are various apps that you can use to warn yourself about speed cameras, also abroad. We list a few for you.
ANWB On the way
If you use the ANWB app on the road, you not only get warnings for speed cameras, but you also have current maps of all over Europe and the last traffic information. If you are logged in with your ‘my ANWB account’, then you also see the foreign fuel prices per gas station in the app. Speed controls are only shown in countries where it is permitted.

Waze
You can also navigate to your destination with Waze while you receive warnings for speed cameras. Waze also gives reports for mobile flash units and route controls. The Flits app is based on reports from other users to indicate mobile flash units. As a result, the accuracy is not exactly the same everywhere. In countries where Flits apps are forbidden, you must eliminate the function itself in the settings.

Flitsmeister
With Flitsmeister it is also possible to navigate and that works throughout Europe. In addition, Flitsmeister naturally warns of speed cameras and mobile flash units. In addition, the app is per European Land amended. As a result, the Flits app works some countries, but you don’t have to pay attention to that yourself. If you want to use Flitsmeister via Apple CarPlay, you need the paid version.
Stick to the speed
Prevention is of course better than cure. The best thing you can do is just keep to the speed. Only that is easier said than done. Not in all European countries it is always clear what the maximum speed is. The aforementioned apps are also useful. But keep an eye on what is and is not allowed in the different countries with regard to the use of the apps!
