Available in final version, OxygenOS 9.0 brings Android Pie to OnePlus 6. If its deployment is still limited in France, there is a trick to accelerate its arrival.
45 days after the official launch of Android Pie, the new version of Google’s operating system is already available from OnePlus. Member of the beta program, the Chinese manufacturer had committed to be in the first, and ahead of bigger brands like Samsung or Huawei, still in the testing phase.
The only compatible smartphone for the moment, the OnePlus 6. The update is available in the settings in some countries, but not yet in France, where you have to wait until September 26. However, there is a method to access it right now. We will explain everything to you.
A little magic software
If you are looking for an update from France, your OnePlus 6 will tell you that you are already on the latest version. A question of servers, those used in France not yet hosting OxygenOS 9.0, the version of the OnePlus system derived from Android Pie. Thanks to a small software, it is possible to retrieve the OTA update from another server.
Download Oxygen Updater for OnePlus 6
By installing Oxygen Updater on your OnePlus 6, update 9.0 will be offered to you. After a 1.5 GB download, go to the “System update” setting of your OnePlus 6. You must then click on the button at the top right, and choose “Local upgrade”. Miracle, the new OxygenOS appears. We click on it, and we launch the installation. Note that this is done without loss of data, although it is still advisable to back up your phone beforehand.
After 5 minutes of installation, your OnePlus 6 should restart with the latest version of Android. We let you see the many changes, such as the new gesture navigation of Android (that of OnePlus remains available in the settings) or the new interface of the notification center. Some applications, like Telephone Where Messages, are also entitled to a new interface.
The OnePlus 6T, which should be announced in mid-October, should be marketed directly to Android Pie. The update will arrive on older OnePlus in the coming weeks.
