Opel Astra

Opel wants to put itself back in the spotlight with tuning enthusiasts. Of course you don’t do that with models that are completely standard, so that’s why the brand went to the German tuning magazine XS with a new Astra Plug-In Hybrid. The Astra XS still leaves a lot of room for the tuning community.

The Astra XS has no modified bumpers, gull-wing doors, air scoops or neon lighting at the bottom. What it does have is air suspension from the brand ‘Grinds’ with height sensors from ‘Carstyle me’. This allows you to lower the car almost to the ground via a control panel on the center console. Furthermore, the 20-inch forged wheels from the American wheel manufacturer ‘RVNT Forged’ immediately attract attention. Parking along a curb without damaging your wheel will be quite a challenge as the profile is extremely low. Furthermore, the Astra XS is distinguished by stickers in the colors of Opel Motorsport, with ‘Opel Motorsport’ written large above the windscreen. To top it off, there are three small lines in the grille in Opel Motorsport yellow, gray and black.

There it immediately stops with the adjustments, because otherwise the Astra is completely standard inside and out. Opel and XS also don’t change anything in terms of motor, so the power of the plug-in hybrid powertrain is still 180 hp. For a more heavily modified Astra, you can go to Irmscher, for example.

It remains a one-off exercise, because Opel will not offer the Astra XS to customers. You can admire the model in real life at the XS Carnight in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin and at the Wörtherseetreffen – a well-known German tuning fair – in September.
