Opel Rocks extreme: crazy one-off

See here: the Opel Rocks-extreme, the winning design of a design competition that Opel organized around its electric urban rascal Rocks-e. The Germans will actually build it, although the edition will be limited to one copy. This makes it truly a unique thing.

In recent weeks, Opel organized a design competition via social media around its Opel Rocks-e, an electric city car that is only available as a microcar in the Netherlands. The Rocks-e can therefore be ridden here by people aged 16 and over and therefore potentially appeals to a younger buyer group than Opel previously did. But how do you approach those buyers?

Well: via social media, they must have thought at Opel. The Germans then organized a design competition in which everyone around the world could participate. Today the winner is revealed: the Opel ‘Rocks-extreme’, a design by – yes – a German. The 26-year-old Lukas Wenzhöfer from Hünfelden, a village near Frankfurt, drew the crazy little one.

Nice roll

He decked it out with an external roll cage, Opel’s ‘Vizor’ at the front and rear and a large rear spoiler. The Rocks-e was also fitted with extra light elements and its wheels – with rough tires around them – were placed considerably further out. At the front there are even double wishbones that help the car with its extra track width.

The spoiler and the roll cage mounted on plastic panels are of course of no use, but the Rocks extreme does not have to go into series production. Opel will actually build one copy of it. What will happen with that, Opel leaves in the middle. But count on it that if the Rocks extreme is ever allowed to play outside, it will not go unnoticed by the world.

Can not be missed!
