Great Wall brings its idiosyncratic brand Ora to Europe, together with the more down-to-earth Wey. The 03 Cat is one of the electric models that gets European asphalt under the wheels. Today we can show you that electric newcomer in production trim.
At the Munich IAA, which took place in September, Great Wall showed its wares that it intends to market in Europe. Wey will be carrying a bunch of electrified SUVs with names like Coffee 01 and Coffee 02 in Europe and the stubborn Ora will come up with some EVs that will be named with the word ‘Cat’ preceded by a number. From the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology, we found new images of the production version of one of those automobile felines: the 03 Cat.
The 03 Cat is the European variant of the car that will be marketed in its home country of China as Lightning Cat. In Europe, the 03 Cat will in any case be joined by the 02 Cat, a small electric hatchback that will be marketed in China as Haomao, which means something like ‘Good Cat’. Just like the 02 Cat, the 03 Cat has a nice quirky design. It is a liftback with classic design details, but also with design elements that Ora may have been inspired by the products of a certain brand from Stuttgart. The fact that Ora is not averse to looking a bit off is evident from the Punk Cat that the brand will be launching in China. That electric hatchback shows quite a few similarities with the old Volkswagen Beetle.
Like the Punk Cat and the 02 Cat, the 03 Cat will have all-electric powertrains. The 4.88 meter long four-wheel drive 03 Cat coming to Europe was presented with an 82 kWh battery pack, good for about 450 WLTP kilometers. From the database from which we have found the new photos of the 03 Cat, we have obtained new information about the 03 Cat. For example, we can report that the car weighs 1,930 to 1,970 kilograms and that the top speed – in China – is 170 km/h. The 03 Cat gets at least two 408 hp electric motors together, good for a 0-100 sprint in about 3 seconds.
What do you think of Ora’s 03 Cat? We are curious about your reactions!
