Paid parking is almost back to the old level

We park in a paid place almost as often as before the corona crisis. This is evident from figures from parking app Parkmobile.

The number of parking transactions is approaching the level of 2019, the year before corona the situation changed. This reports parking app Parkmobile. Since the turn of the year, more and more use has been made of paid parking, with a temporary dip due to the cold winter weather in February.

Last week, the level of the number of parking transactions was slightly more than 10 percent below the number of the same period in 2019 and still 19 percent lower compared to 2020. The number of parking movements fell rapidly last year from the first lockdown at the end of March 2020.

The number of parking transactions is not yet rising equally fast everywhere. Utrecht is a notable outlier, where the number of transactions rose the fastest last week compared to the week before, by 4.3 percent. At a national level, the number increased by 2.4 percent. The number of parking transactions may increase even faster from next week, because shopping in larger stores will then be more accessible.
