Peugeot 208
The result of the Car of the Year 2020 has been announced in an empty room. The Peugeot 208 takes the prize off.
The Peugeot 208 has been named Car of the Year 2020. The winner of the annual election has been announced in an empty room in the trade fair complex where the annual Geneva Motor Show would start tomorrow. The auto show and all ancillary activities have been canceled due to measures taken by the Swiss government to prevent the spread of the coronovirus. The party at Peugeot will be no less.
Although the seven finalists are well matched, the 208 wins with a big lead. The judges give the compact Peugeot, which is supplied with both fuel engines and a fully electric version, 281 points.
The 208 thus not only wins from its direct competitor Renault Clio, but also from cars such as the Tesla Model 3, Ford Puma and Porsche Taycan. The 208 succeeds the Jaguar i-Pace, which narrowly won the victory last year.
The Car of the Year election is the most important European car price and is organized by seven magazines from different countries. The sixty jury members come from all over Europe.
