Peugeot 208 Rallye is a nice nod to the past

Are you watching, Peugeot?

Peugeot 208 Rallye

The Peugeot 208 is normally quite quiet in terms of references to its ancestors, but this Peugeot 208 Rallye is particularly retro. This is of course a very big and, in our opinion, successful nod to the 205 Rallye.

You normally have to take a close look at the Peugeot 208 to recognize influences from its distant ancestor 205. You should see it in the shape of the C-pillar and the ‘dimple’ in it. That could all be a bit more exuberant, according to a Swiss Peugeot dealer. He recently presented this striking Peugeot 208 ‘Rallye’, which we received via Top Gear Netherlands has come to attention.

Just like most Peugeot 205 Rallye (and the 106 Rallye) of the past, the 208 is completely in white. The wheel arch extensions, which are normally always accentuating black, have also been painted white. That was also the case with the 205 Rally; it had wheel arch extensions just like the GTI, but in white. One step lower you will find, as befits a Rallye, white samples. From front to back, the 208 is also equipped with the necessary Peugeot Talbot Sport stickers and stripes, and the C-pillar also states (again as with the 205 Rallye) that it is a Rallye. If it really was exactly the same as the 205, then there would not have been a 208 Rallye on the C-pillar, but 1.2 Rallye.

The great example

The beating heart of the Peugeot 208 Rallye is simply the well-known 100 hp 1.2 PureTech. It also does not appear that the dealer, Garages Hotz in Travers, has ventured into any technical adjustments. In contrast to the original example, this 208 Rallye is not lighter than a normal one and it does not have an extra boosted engine in its nose. Just some external decoration, but it does look nice, right? Anyone who is enthusiastic can buy one in Switzerland for just under €25,500. Of course, you can also join us in hoping that Peugeot will offer the Rallye treatment itself or get busy with stickers and wheels yourself.
