Peugeot 4008 as a plug-in hybrid

“Excuse me, 4008? The car in the pictures is a 3008, isn’t it? ” – we already hear you think. Nevertheless, the 4008 is Peugeot’s youngest SUV to become available as a plug-in hybrid.

Peugeot has introduced the 4008 PHEV 4WD to the world, a fully plug-in hybrid version of the 4008. That sounds special, after all, 4008 is the name of a Peugeot brother of the Mitsubishi ASX and Citroen C4 Aircross that is not supplied in the Netherlands. . The current 4008, however, is an extended version of the car that we currently know in Europe as 3008. That is also remarkable, since the seven-seater 5008 is in our region the longer alternative of the 3008. In China, however, people like an extra few centimeters, so the 3008 is available purely in extended form as the 4008. It is the 4008 that Peugeot has presented a plug-in hybrid variant in China.

The 4008 is from the outside just a 3008 in all respects, although its dimensions are slightly different from its European brother. With its length of 4.51 meters, it is six centimeters longer than our 3008. The wheelbase of the 4008 is also 2.75 meters in total 5 centimeters larger than that of the model known here. The 5008 is still a bit bigger with its length and wheelbase of 4.64 meters and 2.84 meters respectively. Also in China. The 4008 PHEV 4WD will have the same drivetrain as the European Hybrid4 version of the 3008. This means that a 225 hp 1.6 Puretech petrol engine is hidden under the hood, which is coupled to two electric motors that bring the system power to 300 hp. The battery pack has a capacity of 13.2 kWh, which means that the 4008 PHEV 4WD must be able to cover 59 electric kilometers. The 225 horsepower front-wheel drive Hybrid version seems to pass the nose of the 4008. Fun fact: Peugeot sells a car called 3008 in China in addition to the 4008, but that car is nothing more than a modified version of the previous generation 3008 that disappeared from the market in Europe 2016.
