The French police and gendarmerie receive a load of new Peugeot official cars. The Peugeot 5008 is the car they have chosen.
The French Ministry of the Interior has placed an order with Peugeot for 1,263 5008s. These are being prepared for both the national police and the gendarmerie. The cops who had hoped for the latest 5008 are disappointed for a while. The first series is still pre-facelift 5008’s. However, the roll-out of the new cars will continue through November 2022, so eventually the revised 5008 will also wear police colors.
In all cases it concerns the PureTech 130, so the 5008 with a 130 hp 1.2 three-cylinder in the nose. With its 0-100 time of 9.9 seconds and a top speed of 188 km / h, it is not really of the caliber that fast criminals frighten, so they are probably mainly used in urban areas. Peugeot handles the conversion to police cars itself at its factory in Poissy.
The French police also use the Renault Mégane for faster jobs, the Peugeot Rifter, the Renault Trafic and the Renault Master. However, there are also some foreign cars in use, such as the Volkswagen e-Golf and Skoda Octavia.
