Peugeot builds one millionth 3008

Peugeot 3008

The factory workers in Sochaux, France, are getting an extra slice of brie on their baguette this afternoon at lunch, because they have assembled the millionth 3008. This is of course a great milestone for the brand.

We don’t have to explain to you that crossovers and SUVs are flying over the counter like hot cakes. In any case, it gives Peugeot reason for a party: the millionth 3008 is a fact. A blue plug-in hybrid variant of the high-legged compact middle class is the party animal.

The first generation Peugeot 3008

The 3008 story began in 2008, when Peugeot launched the first generation. Although Peugeot was quite early on with a crossover in this segment, a complete makeover with the current generation ensured that the 3008 became really successful. By the way, Peugeot built the French copies of the first 3008 not only in Sochaux, but also in Mulhouse. 3008s have also been built in China, Malaysia, Kazakhstan and Namibia, but the milestone has now been reached – probably not entirely unplanned – in Sochaux.

In the Netherlands, the counter now stands at 33,759 copies sold. The lion’s share of these is the current generation 3008. In 2017, the first full year of sales, the 3008 had its best year here with 5,255 units. This year 1,831 have been sold to date. Last year, the Peugeot 3008 was still facelifted.
