The new Philips OLED+959 and OLED+909 Ambilight TVs include the new Ambilight Plus system, the new P5 AI Dual Engine processor, META Technology 2.0 and Sound by Bowers & Wilkins. Read all about the Philips OLED+959 Ambilight TV here.

TP Vision has been licensing Philips TVs and audio products for many years. In Barcelona they are announcing many new products for 2024, including OLED TVs and many audio products. The Philips OLED+959 and OLED+909 Ambilight TV are in the higher and therefore more expensive premium segment. They include the Ambilight Plus system, the new P5 AI Dual Engine processor, META Technology 2.0 and ‘Sound by Bowers & Wilkins’.

Philips OLED+959 Ambilight TV
The flagship model Philips OLED+959 Ambilight TV is launched with a screen size of 65 inches. The premium OLED model combines the power of a new 8th generation P5 AI Dual Engine processor with META Technology 2.0. The TV is equipped with Ambilight Plus and a new integrated Bowers & Wilkins 5.1.2 sound system of 102 watts.

Ambilight Plus system
Ambilight Plus enhances the Ambilight experience by adding multiple lenses to the back-mounted color LEDs. Ambilight Plus can therefore create a more dynamic, larger halo with more resolution and project up to four different halos at different depths. This adds a new two-dimensional effect.

Image quality
The right image quality is achieved by combining a new 8th generation version of the P5 AI Dual Engine processor with the new META 2.0 OLED panel and the META Multi Booster algorithm. The powerful 8th generation P5 AI Dual Engine processor features Ambient Intelligence V3a new AI Machine Learn Sharpness V2system and a new one Smart Bit Enhancementalgorithm (V3).
Ambient Intelligence V3 optimizes HDR for ambient light levels, working in conjunction with the HDR Advanced feature, to monitor and adjust HDR performance. This allows excellent HDR performance to be maintained in bright viewing conditions in dark conditions. Ambient Intelligence V3 further increases contrast in real-time to better match the screen’s light output for low-light scenes or to clipping in very bright scenes.
AI Machine Sharpness V2 uses new algorithms and the added power of the new twin-chip P5 AI to create more detailed and realistic images. The new Smart Bit Enhancement V3 algorithm expands 8-bit video to nearly 14-bit, to banding to solve without loss of detail.

3000 nits
The META 2.0 panel features Micro Lens Array Plus technology. This provides improved light efficiency thanks to new 3D MLA lens analyzers that optimize the angles and curvature of the MLA lenses.
The addition of the new META Multi Booster algorithm enables peak brightness of up to 3000 Nits – a new high for OLED technology.
The META 2.0 Multi Booster algorithm includes a Detail Enhancer to optimize image quality in extremely low grayscale areas, optimizing HDR performance for both bright and dark content.

Audio by Bowers & Wilkins
As the top model, the OLED+959 should offer excellent TV sound thanks to a new integrated 5.1.2 sound system with new custom-made, highly efficient, slim 30x50mm drivers. For the OLED+959, the system offers a total of 18 drivers, maintaining the set’s sleek silhouette and without sacrificing audio performance.
The system includes dedicated front-firing, left, center, right (LCR) speakers, with each speaker containing two 30mm x 50mm mid-range drivers plus a 19mm titanium dome tweeter per channel ( with the well-known B&W Nautilus tube solution). The side-firing speakers on the left and right each contain a further two 30x50mm drivers, while the Atmos channels also contain two 30x50mm drivers for each of the left and right elevation speakers.
All speakers are acoustically isolated and mounted in their own rigid enclosures. At the rear of the set is a dedicated bass enclosure with a 75mm subwoofer supported by four 45mm x 65mm passive radiators.
New amplifier modules (amplifiers) offer 12 channels of amplification for a total power of 102 watts, with each channel having its own dedicated signal processing.
For viewers who want even deeper bass, the OLED+959 offers the option to connect an external subwoofer.

Gaming
The OLED+959 delivers a high-level gaming experience via a new game bar, in addition to MEMC gaming and VRR up to 144 KHz, including Dolby Vision Gaming. The new game bar is designed to let gamers quickly customize the gaming experience. Whether it’s fast-paced FPS, where latency and precision are everything, to a more relaxed cinematic RPG, gamers can choose the appropriate gaming profile and with a few keystrokes, picture, sound and Ambilight settings are all adjusted.
Gamers can also activate various image enhancements. For example, MEMC allows gamers to activate the Smooth option of the set’s P5 AI motion processing for smooth movements without stuttering (judder free). With a minimum latency reduced from 200 ms to 40 ms.

Design
The sleek OLED+959 can be wall-mounted or floor-standing via its minimalist, mid-slate colored aluminum and steel stand. The front, side and up-firing speaker enclosures are also covered in a slate gray Kadvrat Audiomix fabric.

Software and connectivity
The OLED+959 has the latest version of the Google OS. The improved connectivity includes compatibility with Matter and Control 4, which should ensure a reliable and secure connection between devices so that they can work together smoothly.

Price and availability
The Philips OLED+959 Ambilight TV will be launched in the third quarter of 2024. The recommended retail price will also be announced around that time.
