Photo of iPhone 14 cases leaked: two things stand out

Apple plans to launch four new iPhone 14 models this fall. A photo of alleged official covers has now surfaced. And that reveals a few things about the new iPhone 14 (Pro).

Photo iPhone 14 Cases

The photo was posted on the Chinese social media platform Weibo and was shared by Twitter user DuanRui. The image shows four thin cases for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

These kinds of cases often give a reliable picture of what we can expect from a new iPhone series. Case manufacturers receive CAD renders from Apple prematurely, so that they can manufacture the cases before an iPhone release.

What catches the eye?

What is striking is that Apple is once again making the iPhone’s camera module larger. The image below compares the module of the iPhone 13 Pro Max with that of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the difference is clearly visible.

The iPhone 14 Pro’s wide-angle lens is rumored to have a 57 percent larger sensor with an impressive 48-megapixel camera. Until now, the iPhone took pictures with a maximum of 12 megapixels. In addition, the new lens makes it possible for the first time to film with an iPhone in 8K.

In addition, the photo confirms something we already knew: there will be no successor to the 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini. That makes way for a 6.7-inch iPhone. That makes it the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but it’s cheaper because it lacks some features. The name of the device is not yet known; Apple probably chooses iPhone 14 Max or iPhone 14 Plus.

When will the iPhone 14 be released?

In about two months, Apple will present the new iPhone 14 series at an Apple event. Usually the iPhone 14 release takes place in the second or third week of September, on a Monday or Tuesday.

In addition to the iPhone 14, more products are expected, including three new Apple Watch models. And we may also see a new version of the AirPods on the scene, or an improved iPad. Do you want to stay informed? Sign up for our newsletter:
