Pierer Mobility acquires full control of MV Agusta

After previously acquiring Husqvarna, Husaberg and GASGAS to strengthen the market share in enduro and off-road, Stefan Pierer has now taken a majority stake in MV Agusta.

In November 2022, KTM AG, a subsidiary of PIERER Mobility AG, acquired 25.1% of MV Agusta Motor SpA through a capital investment, with the plan even then to gain full control of the Italian brand that has seen many turbulent times.

Shortly after the acquisition of the minority stake, Pierer had already stated in this interview that he would have a majority stake within a few years, but Timur Sardarov demanded that that quote be deleted. Sardarov stated that this was not the case at all and that the Sardarov family would continue to hold the majority interest.

As part of the partnership, KTM AG took over distribution and purchasing from MV Agusta in October 2023, moving sales to KTM dealers and sidelining the existing network. In addition, there was a call option to acquire a majority interest in MV Agusta on the basis of the annual accounts as of December 31, 2025.

That call option is now executed early. The purchase price for the remaining 25% of the shares has been calculated according to the previously agreed valuation method (EBITDA multiple).

This means that KTM AG will take over the majority and also the industrial management of MV Agusta Motor SpA. In the medium term, an annual production volume of more than 10,000 MV Agusta motorcycles is planned at the Varese facility.

With the early takeover of the majority and as a commitment to the location and responsibility for employees, Hubert Trunkenpolz, Member of the Board of Directors of PIERER Mobility AG, takes over the role of CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors from Timur Sardarov, who remains available to the company as vice chairman, brand ambassador and consultant.
