Pixel Buds Pro features we really want to see on the AirPods

Apple are you watching? The new Apple AirPods Pro 2 are top of the line, but there are always things that could be improved. When we look at the new Google Pixel Buds Pro, we see three features that we really miss on the AirPods.

Google Pixel Buds Pro vs Apple AirPods Pro

The Pixel Buds Pro and the AirPods Pro have quite a few similarities. For example, they both have interchangeable ear tips, touch control and noise reduction. The Pixel Buds Pro do not have Spatial Audio at the moment, but that will be added later via an update.

Then there are also a lot of differences. For example, the AirPods Pro 2 are a bit better when it comes to battery life (with noise reduction). Plus, they have adaptive transparency, something the Pixel Buds Pro lacks. But there are also three features that we miss with the AirPods.

1. Colors other than just white

With the AirPods we have long regretted that they are only available in white. For example, we would also like to see black AirPods. With Google you do have that choice. You can de Pixel buds Pro in the Netherlands order both in white (Mist) and black (Charcoal). There are even more colors, but they are not for sale here in the shops.

2. No steals: touch controls can also be found elsewhere

It is also a bit of a matter of taste, but as far as we are concerned, AirPods without stems can also come. The Google Pixel Buds Pro show that touch control is still perfectly possible, so that’s no reason to keep them. Surprisingly, the Pixel Buds are slightly heavier than the AirPods Pro 2 (6.2 grams per earbud compared to 5.3 grams per earbud).

3. USB-C connection: so easy

Although it has been clear for some time that all devices will receive a USB-C connection in the future, Apple has still opted for a Lightning connection with the latest AirPods. Google has equipped the Pixel Buds Pro with a USB-C connection, making them just a bit more future-proof. Apple won’t switch to USB-C until 2024.
