Apple has announced new FineWoven cases, but they appear to be extremely sensitive to stains. Apple itself is now also warning about this.
New FineWoven cases for iPhone
Sustainability was a hugely important topic during the iPhone 15 presentation. The Apple Watch Series 9 is Apple’s first carbon-neutral product, taking a major step towards selling only carbon-neutral products before 2030. To achieve this goal, all leather cases for the iPhone have also been banned. Instead, Apple announced FineWoven cases.

These covers are made of a new type of textile. FineWoven is made from recycled microtwill, which Apple says feels like suede. The new material is used for the new iPhone cases and for MagSafe card holders. FineWoven produces far fewer emissions than leather, but Apple warns of a number of disadvantages. The textile type is much more sensitive to stains.

Stains and prints in the new cases
FineWoven is a lot better for the environment than leather and protects your iPhone against scratches and other damage. However, the question at this point is how long you will last with the case, because Apple has already warned that signs of use can quickly appear on the textile. FineWoven is vulnerable to dirty stains and quickly gets an imprint from the MagSafe charger.
According to Apple, if you regularly use the MagSafe charger, there is a good chance that a round print will appear in the FineWoven material. The new case therefore quickly no longer looks like new. Are you afraid that the case will get stains or that your MagSafe charger will leave a print? Then Apple recommends choosing a silicone or transparent case for your iPhone.
FineWoven as expensive as leather
The fact that the new FineWoven cases are so vulnerable is not yet reflected in the price, because the cases are as expensive as Apple’s leather cases. You pay no less than 69 euros for a FineWoven case with MagSafe for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is the standard price of the new FineWoven cases, so it is a considerable amount. As a result, it is hoped that the material will last for a while.

Apple itself has already indicated that it is not yet known what the exact lifespan of the FineWoven material is, because the textile type is relatively new. Do you want to be sure that your phone case will last a long time? Then it is advisable to choose a different material. The new covers can be viewed on Apple’s website from this afternoon, when pre-ordering for the iPhone 15 also starts. Read here how you can order the phone later!
