Skoda Kodiaq

Unlike cars such as the Octavia and Superb, the current Skoda Kodiaq has never appeared as a plug-in hybrid. However, there is a completely new Kodiaq in the development rooms in Mmladá Boleslav and it will be available with a plug. We will find out about this and more about the new Skoda Kodiaq.

The current Kodiaq is the largest SUV that Skoda has in its range. The new one is even bigger. With a length of 4.76 meters, the second-generation Skoda Kodiaq that will be released later this year is another 6 centimeters longer than the current model. The wheelbase, however, remains unchanged at 2.79 meters. The new Kodiaq is therefore based on a further developed version of the MQB base that you will find under the current model. Just like the current Kodiaq, the new model will also be available as a seven-seater. So far, little changes to the Kodiaq recipe. The second Skoda Kodiaq will soon be available as a plug-in hybrid for the first time.

Up to more than 100 kilometers of electric range

That plug-in hybrid Kodiaq will be called the full Skoda Kodiaq 1.5 TSI iV and will be 204 hp strong. The plugged-in Skoda Kodiaq gets a 25.7 kWh battery pack and that combination gives the SUV an electric range of more than 100 kilometers. Fast charging is possible up to 50 kW. Of course, electrified powertrains without a plug will also come to the Kodiaq. For example, a 150 hp mild hybrid 1.5 with cylinder deactivation comes to the SUV. The Kodiaq with that 1.5 mHEV called powertrain puts out 150 horsepower.

Skoda Kodiaq

You will probably not be short of space in the new Skoda Kodiaq.

Every Skoda Kodiaq also gets a DSG automatic transmission. You no longer operate it with a traditional automatic lever or with a smaller selector stick, but by means of a module on the steering column. The center tunnel therefore gets a large storage compartment. Every Kodiaq has a standard 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and an infotainment screen with a diagonal of 12.9 inches is located centrally on the dashboard. Skoda sticks to physical rotary and push buttons and that is good news for those who get tickled by the touch-sensitive buttons and sliders and other products of the Volkswagen Group.

Reamer

The centimeters that the new Skoda Kodiaq grows compared to the current model naturally have a positive effect on the interior space. For example, the headroom in the third row of seats has increased by 1.5 centimeters. The luggage compartment increases by 75 liters to 910 litres. Other Kodiaq novelties: you will soon be able to wirelessly charge two smartphones at the same time, which will also be cooled at the same time. In addition, the Czechs bring a “screen cleaner” for smartphones to the SUV. You can park the new Kodiaq remotely via a phone app connected to the car via Bluetooth, the SUV will be available with LED matrix headlights and Skoda speaks of the arrival of a series of new or updated passive and active safety systems.

The new Skoda Kodiaq will be presented in early October and will come to the Netherlands in the spring of 2024.

Kodiaq in the Netherlands

Since the Dutch market introduction of the first Kodiaq in 2017, 15,609 copies have been registered in our country. Over the first five months of this year, the registration counter of the Skoda Kodiaq stands at 1,859 units. This makes it the most popular Skoda this year. The electric Enyaq follows with 1,574 registrations in second place. In 2022, the Kodiaq had to tolerate the Octavia and the Enyaq. The Skoda Kodiaq went under the knife in mid-2021 and also exists in China as a Kodiaq GT with a more sloping roofline.
