Pokémon GO will make it easier to find water Pokémon for the next week. This means that you will come across Magikarp (yes!), Squirtle, Totodile and their evolutions, among others, more often when you go out hunting. If you go to places where you already encounter water Pokémon more often, you will now find more water bugs of the second generation there. And if you’re lucky, even a rare Lapras. On the occasion of this event, you will also be able to find a Magikarp hat in the avatar shop.
Better news is that it is now easier to get evolution items. With the introduction of the Johto region Pokémon, these items have also been added to the game. Evolution items must be used to evolve specific Pokémon. For example, Onix can only be evolved to Steelix with a Metal Coat and the evolution from Gloom to Bellossom requires a Sun Stone. Until now, you only got these items randomly from PokéStops, but they are extremely rare. Fortunately, collecting these items is now a bit easier.
If you spin a PokéStop every day, you build up a streak. On the seventh day of throwing a PokéStop in a row, you will receive extra items and XP. From now on, you will also receive an evolution item on every seventh day. Time to make those Slowking, Politoed, Kingdra, Scizor, Sunflora and Porygon2 too!
