Polestar 2: now up to 654 kilometers range

At the beginning of this year, the Polestar 2 underwent a thorough technical update. Now we know more about how far the updated Polestar 2 can get on a full battery pack.

Just like Volvo earlier with the XC40 and C40, Polestar pulled off an interesting trick with the 2 at the beginning of this year. The electric Polestar 2 was basically a front-wheel drive, but was transformed into a rear-wheel drive. Polestar immediately brought new electric motors and new battery packs to the Polestar 2, but the brand’s urge for innovation has not yet calmed down. According to Polestar, the range of the 2 has now increased further.

It is striking that Polestar repeats the adjustments made at the beginning of this year. The brand mentions the arrival of new electric motors and a new 82 kWh battery pack and a higher charging capacity for the Long Range variants. So no news on that front. The Polestars 2 can now continue on a full charge. It appears that Polestar released another ‘expected range’ in January and has now released the final WLTP figures. We are – just to be sure – still awaiting a response from Polestar on whether there are actually any new technical adjustments.

The Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor (299 hp, 82 kWh battery) has so far recorded a range of 635 kilometers behind its name, but Polestar now mentions a range of no less than 654 kilometers for that engine version.

The Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with two combined 421 hp electric motors (476 hp with Performance Pack) and 82 kWh battery kicks it, as previously indicated, to a range of more than 590 kilometers (592 kilometers). So nothing changes there. The Polestar 2 Standard Range Single Motor (272 hp, 69 kWh battery) was known to reach 518 kilometers on a full battery, but according to Polestar now scores a range of 532 kilometers on a full battery. In the case of the Single Motor Standard Range, it is again what Polestar calls a ‘preliminary test value’.
