Polestar 3: Large Electric SUV Ready to Debut

The Polestar model range currently consists of only one model, but within the next few years a whole series of new models will be added. One of these is the Polestar 3, a car of which the brand is now releasing a new image and unveiling date.

Polestar will draw the curtain for the 3 in Copenhagen on October 12. The Polestar 3 is an electric SUV that we have been eyeing for a while. Polestar has already shown an image of the electric SUV twice and AutoWeek was able to tell you the first detailed technical specifications and even the prices of the car in July. The announcement of the Polestar 3 reveal date goes hand-in-hand with a new image of the Polestar 3’s rear, though there’s nothing new about it.

In short, the Polestar 3 is Polestar’s sister model to the recently announced Volvo EX90, the all-electric successor to the XC90. Like that Volvo EX90, the Polestar 3 is packed with smart software and an extensive range of sensors. Polestar describes the SUV as a car that values performance and mentions only four-wheel drive versions, with the focus of the electric motors on driving the rear axle. In addition, Polestar confirms the information that AutoWeek received earlier: the Polestar 3 will have air suspension. According to the brand, the top version of the Polestar 3 is almost 520 hp and 910 Nm strong. You guessed it: that’s no surprise either.

As mentioned, AutoWeek already got the technical specifications and even the Dutch prices of two versions in its sights in July. The first is the Long Range Dual Motor with two 489 hp and 840 Nm strong electric motors. That version, just like the stronger variant to be described below, has a 111 kWh that, in combination with the 489 hp powertrain, is good for a range of up to 610 kilometers. This version sprints to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. Its top speed is 210 km/h. The more powerful variant is called Performance and is 517 hp and 910 Nm strong and hits 100 km/h in 4.7 counts. At 560 kilometers, the range of this variant is slightly smaller than that of the Long Range Dual Motor.

The Polestar 3 will be 4.9 meters long and will have a wheelbase of 2.99 meters. That makes it 5 centimeters shorter than the outgoing Volvo XC90. In the back you can store 484 liters of stuff. If you flatten the rear seats, the load volume is increased to 1,411 litres. The starting price of the Polestar 3 would – according to our previous information – be €88,600. The Performance version will of course be more expensive at €95,200.

It doesn’t stop with the Polestar 3. In 2024 Polestar will add the 4 to its line-up and in the same year or the following year the Polestar 5 will come into play. In addition, Polestar is also working on an electric convertible: the 6.
