Polestar will introduce an electric top model in 2024 that has to sink its teeth into the success of cars such as the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan: the Polestar 5. The testing work with that electric top model is in full swing. This is evident from a new set of photos showing the Polestar 5 in the snow in the far north of Sweden.

The parent company of Volvo and Polestar can do a lot, but one thing it cannot: sit still. Geely is making progress in its home country of China by regularly launching a new brand or a new model line and, if possible, it also brings new brands to Europe. After all, Lynk & Co came our way in a recent past, but Zeekr also needs to gain a foothold on European territory. Volvo recently came up with the EX90 and this year is pushing a new small electric crossover forward with the EX30 and Polestar also releases a lot of news every once in a while. Recently, the Polestar 2 received completely new powertrains and suddenly became a rear-wheel drive instead of a front-wheel drive and the electric SUV Polestar 3 is still fresh. But there is more ahead. Polestar has also devised an interpretation for the numbers 4, 5 and 6.

For example, the Polestar 6 that will be on the scale in 2026 will be an electric convertible and Polestar will also come with a sporty electric SUV in the form of the 4. The Polestar 5 is the car with which the brand wants to sink its teeth into electric GTs such as the Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT. In a sense, the Polestar 5 will be the production version of the Precept Concept presented in 2020, although Polestar also immediately introduced its new design language with that car. The Polestar 5 – which AutoWeek could already show you from all angles on a patent image – will not be a sedan but a hatchback with a sloping butt. A large hatch for the Polestar 5. In addition, the Polestar 5 does not seem to have a traditional rear window. In the spoiler placed at the top of the tailgate, Polestar seems to place a camera that provides rear visibility.

According to Polestar, the Polestar 5 will be on a base specially developed for the model, although the car probably shows some kinship with the models on the SPA2 base that the Volvo EX90 and Polestar 3 also use. The Polestar 5 is powerful up to 884 hp. On to 2024!
