The development of a new model takes several years. Not only do car manufacturers spend a lot of time testing and developing the technical aspect of a new model, but of course a lot of time is also spent on the appearance of a newcomer. Not every model reaches the production stage and that also applies to various design proposals of well-known models. In a few weeks, Porsche will be drawing a set of design sketches of cars that never came.
A lot is going on behind the closed doors of the Porsche Design Studio in Weissach, Germany. However, a significant portion of that design stuff is never released. Retired design proposals for new models are rarely put out, but Porsche indicates through its social channels that it will release a bunch of those ‘hidden treasures’ in two weeks. The brand already shows a teaser record of what we can expect.
Porsche 550 Spyder
Porsche shows a shadowy image showing the rear view of a completely unknown model. The car is described as one that harks back to Porsche’s racing cars from the 1950s. However, we do not see direct design-technical references to cars like the Porsche 550 and the primal 718 that emerged from it, although you could well see the sketched colossus as a modern interpretation of that car. For now, we have to make do with this sketch, more in two weeks!
