The Porsche Taycan has a special world record. Never before has a car driven into a building as fast as the electric Porsche.
You can’t make it up that crazy, unless an official Guinness World Records record exists. There was also a record for the fastest speed ever driven in a closed building. That had been at 138.4 km / h for seven years. A great challenge for Porsche to finish that record with its Taycan. After all, in order to achieve that, you need a car that moves quickly from its place, but also stops quickly. And a large building, not unimportant either.
That building was found in the American city of New Orleans. At the Ernest N. Memorial Convention Center, there was plenty of room to attack the record, according to Porsche. Driver Leh Keen got behind the wheel of the Taycan Turbo S to give it a try. According to him, it was not only very exciting because of course you have to put your brakes back on time when the wall comes into view, but also because the floor was very slippery. The smooth concrete didn’t really offer the optimal surface and according to Keen it was like ‘driving on ice’. Nevertheless, the standing record was pulled out of the books by force majeure. Keen reached a top speed of no less than 165.1 km / h. “And that in a building. What was I thinking?” Said an apparently quite relieved Keen.
