Porsche Taycan with ‘more than 1,000 hp’ tries to mislead

Porsche is working on a variant of the Taycan that should probably be at least as potent as the Tesla Model S Plaid. The test mule for that Porsche has passed our spy photographer’s lens before, but this time we get to see it up close. The interior, the width of the rear tires and the diffuser, among other things, betray the intentions of what is likely to be the first Porsche to break through the 1,000-hp barrier.

Porsche is working on an extra fast variant of the Taycan that should probably be able to reply to the Tesla Model S Plaid. To achieve this, the car is said to have no less than three electric motors, good for more than 1,000 horsepower. The Porsche technicians would have confirmed this to our spy photographer, while Porsche fanatics on the internet on the other hand express their doubts about the possibility of three engines. The platform of the Taycan wouldn’t accommodate it. The opposite seems to be true, but has not yet been officially confirmed.

In any case, expect an electric Porsche that hits 100 km / h in less than 2 seconds and accelerates to well over 300 km / h. Not only that: the extra fast Taycan must also excel in cornering. This is evident from the aerodynamic parts that Porsche sticks on it. Both at the front and at the back, it gets heavier bumper work with a rear diffuser (well visible through the snow) and a large spoiler. Furthermore, the rear tires seem to be even wider than the 305 mm wide copies of the most potent ‘regular’ Taycan.

The interior of the mule is also more visible than before and shows the bucket seats of a GT3 RS and a roll cage. The former – without GT3 RS designation – could just return to the production car, the roll cage is there purely for the safety of test drivers. Anyway: those things betray how seriously Porsche wants to market this car. The brand even goes a step further than it would otherwise do when camouflaging a car and sticks a TDI badge on the back. Would the Taycan top not only lie about the presence of a turbo (like the Turbo and Turbo S with their names), but also about direct injection? We expect to be able to confirm it after the facelift!
