More than purely optical decoration
Before Toyota itself publicizes it, AutoWeek can tell you what the new sporty top version of the Yaris Cross costs. The Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport costs just under 40 grand.
In August, the Toyota presented the Yaris Cross GR Sport, a sporty top version to which the Dutch importer did not yet have a price tag. AutoWeek has won the prize. With a starting price of €39,995, the Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport costs less than 40 grand, making it €900 more expensive than the slightly lower-positioned Yaris Cross in Adventure trim.
The Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport is only available as a hybrid, which means that you always have to do it with the 116 hp 1.5 Hybrid. With this, the Japanese reaches 100 km/h in 11.2 seconds. Average consumption is 5.0 l/100 km. So no extra power for the GR Sport, but what do you get?
Quite a bit! The Yaris Cross GR Sport has a generous standard equipment based on that of the Adventure and Executive. Instead of Adventure bumper work all around you get a special GR Sport rear bumper, a sportier-looking grille, GR Sport logos, special 18-inch alloy and a sporty decked out interior. For example, Toyota finishes the interior of the GR Sport with Gun Metal Silver accents, aluminum sports pedals, a perforated leather steering wheel, special leather and suede upholstery with red stitching and various GR Sport logos. LED matrix headlights are standard, the same goes for almost everything that can be found in and on the Yaris Cross. According to Toyota, the chassis is tuned more tightly and the steering is more direct than that of the regular versions.
