Small is beautiful
People share a lot of photos with each other via WhatsApp. The photo files are reduced in size by default. You cannot make large prints with it. But if you’re happy with a small picture, printing is certainly possible. The easiest way to do this is via a WiFi printer. The phone contacts the printer and sends the photo to it.
Mobile apps for printers
Do you have an HP printer that works with WiFi or mobile internet? Then use the ‘HP Smart’ app to print from your smartphone. The HP app sends photos to the printer over the Internet connection. The app can be downloaded for free from the Play Store for Android and the App Store for iPhones and iPads. on HP’s website contains more information about the app and how to set it up.
Other brands of printers also have an app for printing photos. Think of the well-known brands Epson, Canon and Samsung. You can find these apps in the App Store or the Play Store. The apps all work with the own brand printers that are suitable for it. The easiest way is to install your printer brand’s app and just try printing. If it does not work properly, simply delete the app again.
Whatsapp photo printing via iPhone
On the iPhone, printing from the device without other apps is a roundabout way:
If WhatsApp automatically saves received photos in Photos app, then you can follow the steps from ‘Launch Photos app’.
- Start WhatsApp and open the message containing the photo.
- Tap the photo.
- At the bottom left, tap the icon with a square and an up arrow.
- Tap on Keep. The photo is saved in the Photos app.
- Launch the Photos app.
- Tap the saved photo.
- At the bottom left, tap the icon with a square and an up arrow again.
- A menu with all kinds of sharing options opens. Tap on Print.
- Tap next to ‘Printer’ Choose printer and tap the printer you are going to print from.
- By default, one copy is set to be printed. Tap the plus sign behind ‘1 copy’ to make multiple prints.
- At the top right, tap Print.
The photo is printed.
WhatsApp photo printing with android device
For Android phones, there is no universal convenient way to print photos quickly. But in general it works like this:
- First, save the photo from WhatsApp in the Google Photos app.
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Tap the chat that contains the photo.
- Tap the photo.
- Tap the three dots.
- Tap on To share.
- Tap on Upload to Photos > upload.
- Get out of WhatsApp.
- Tap app photos.
- Tap the photo.
- Tap the button with the three dots.
- Tap on Print.
- Tap on Select Printer and in the drop-down box, tap the printer you will be printing with.
- Swipe down to adjust settings such as number of prints, orientation, and paper size.
- Tap on Start or a printer’s yellow icon.
The photo is printed.
