Smart home company Eufy has a problem with privacy. Some users of smart doorbells and security cameras can peek into the images of others. Whether Dutch Eufy users have also been affected by the privacy problem is still unknown.
Privacy issues at Eufy
The news came up through Reddit. Several users of the forum commented that they could view images from other houses via the app of their Eufy camera. This includes live images as well as pre-recorded videos.
For example, an American Reddit user writes that he has access to the images of an American Eufy camera owner. “I can see their car (a Mustang) and contact details, among other things,” writes the Redditor. “I myself have three small children, so I’m afraid others will be able to view my camera images.”

“I have the same problem,” writes another Reddit user. “I have access to all the options of someone else’s account, including the ability to view live images. I can even control their camera remotely and save images to my own computer. ”
Size unknown
It is still unclear how big the privacy problem is and in which countries it occurs. Stories from Australia and the United States are mainly featured on forums and social media.
Eufy has not yet responded to the fuss that has arisen. iPhone the company has requested a response and will update this article as needed.
Do you have a smart doorbell or camera from Eufy and can you view other people’s images? There does not seem to be a solution to the problem yet. Some Eufy users say that logging out and logging in again “solves” the problem. That is, they regained access to their own Eufy account.
Living month on iPhone
Spends the whole month of May iPhone attention to the theme of (smart) living. Earlier we wrote about the Action doorbell, for example. This one is dirt cheap compared to competitors, but is it also a sensible purchase?
For example, we have also listed the best smart doorbells without a subscription and in our Google Home vs Apple HomeKit video we explain the main differences between the two smart home systems.
