You can easily transfer photos from the computer to the iPad via Dropbox.
Dropbox
Dropbox makes it possible to exchange files (photos, documents, music) between different users and devices. Store photos in Dropbox and view them from any device, including your computer and iPad. There are also other options. All options are listed in the article ‘Put photos on the iPad’.
Preparation Dropbox
- Download and install Dropbox on your computer by following the instructions in the “Install Dropbox on Windows” article. Learn how to use Dropbox in the ‘What is Dropbox?
- Put the Dropbox app on the iPad. The app is available for free in the App Store. If necessary, read the tip ‘Download an app from the App Store’.
- You use the same Dropbox login information on the computer and on the app.
Put photos in Dropbox
To copy photos to Dropbox and view them on iPad:
- Click the Start button > Dropbox.
- Open File Explorer and go to the ‘Dropbox’ folder.
- Place the photos you want to see on your iPad here. You can read how to do this in the article ‘Organize files’.
- Wait for Dropbox to finish copying the photos to your account. You can see that from the picture in the System Tray. If there is a green check mark in the bottom right corner of the blue box image, all files have been copied to your Dropbox account.
View photos on iPad
- Grab the iPad and launch the Dropbox app.
- Log in with your account.
- If you see a notification about ‘Save Your Photos to Dropbox’, tap Enable Camera Upload. This will enable automatic uploading of photos. For example, if you take a screenshot on your iPad, it will also end up in Dropbox, in the Camera Uploads folder. The photo is therefore also on your computer.
- Optionally, give Dropbox access to your photos by tapping OK or To allow.
- Tap in the left row on the folder containing the photos.
- You will see a small representation of the photos. Tap it to see the large version.
