PvdA only wants emission-free new cars by 2025

The election programs of the Dutch political parties are slowly trickling in. The PvdA has formulated a number of sharp goals in the car field.

Fuel cars are increasingly under pressure because of the climate goals. A good thing, according to the PvdA. In its party program for the upcoming elections, the party states that if it were up to it, new cars with combustion engines will soon be sold. “We are tightening up the European standard for cars. In 2025, only emission-free new passenger cars, motorcycles, mopeds and scooters will be sold. Sustainable mobility is crucial in the energy transition and standards are the best way to achieve this. We will replace all means of transport that cause noise nuisance. as soon as possible through quieter and more sustainable alternatives. “

Of course there must be an alternative. The party is of the opinion that electric driving must therefore become more accessible. She thinks this is still too expensive and wants to make electric driving more accessible through financial stimulation. “This can be achieved through a combination of investments and broadening of fiscal regulations. This makes electric driving accessible to everyone and not just to higher incomes.” In addition, the party also hopes that ultimately more people will have access to a car than now. According to the PvdA, car sharing is a solution for this. “Cars stand still ninety percent of the time. We encourage car sharing. This reduces costs and prevents people from getting where they want because they don’t have the money.”
