Bentley S2 Continental Lunaz

Anyone who loves fancy classic cars and has nothing to do with electric driving, should look away. Lunaz Design has taken a two-door Bentley S2 Continental from 1961 by the scratch and equipped it with an electric powertrain.

You can of course replace the not necessarily very special engines of cars such as a Renault 4 with an electric one. Then you will undoubtedly iron some classic enthusiasts against the hair, but it is not really sacrilege. However, it becomes a more exciting story with the conversion of this Bentley S2 Continental. The British Lunaz Design, which focuses on electrifying super-exclusive classics, proudly presents it.

The recipe is relatively simple: Lunaz gets his hands on the car, completely restores it and puts his own electric powertrain and battery pack in it. Some other things are also being modernized, such as the brakes and suspension. The damping can now be fully adjusted from the car. Not a superfluous luxury, because with electric power, this two-door S2 Continental is quite a bit stronger than before and then you may sometimes want a slightly tighter handling. A thick 400 hp electric motor propels the posh 62-year-old to 100 km / h in just under 7 seconds. Oh yes, the 6.2 V8 that was in it is carefully removed and preserved, so one day the whole story may well be reversed.

Lunaz does not report what driving range is possible with the undoubtedly very heavy Bentley. Just like the price. Guess it’s not exactly sweet. Normally you can count on around €300,000, but in this case it is also an extra rare Bentley. Lunaz himself says it is one of four ever made, making it the rarest car ever to get an electric powertrain. It is probably one of four from this series, more copies have been built over different years, but it is certainly rare.
