Razer Blade 15 is the first laptop with a 240Hz OLED screen

Razer Blade 15 is the first laptop with a 240Hz OLED screen

Razer comes with a new laptop that is quite pricey and actually offers a new feature: an OLED screen with a refresh rate of 240 Hertz. In addition, the device has high-end specifications.

At the end of the year, computer and accessory manufacturer Razer will release a laptop with a price tag of $3,500. That is converted to 3,324 euros, excluding VAT. For that amount you get a good product. Under the hood, the laptop has a twelve-generation Intel Core i9 12900H processor and a graphics card that has been specially developed for laptops, namely the Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti.

The unique part of this laptop is the 15.6-inch OLED display and QHD resolution. That screen has a refresh rate of 240 Hertz (so 240 images per second) and a response time of 1 ms. In addition, the screen supports one hundred percent of the DCI-P3 color spectrum. With a maximum brightness of 400 nits, you won’t be gaming in the sun quickly, but indoor gaming with a power outlet in turn is better for your mental state anyway.

High price, great specs

In addition to the specifications already mentioned, we also find 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, a 1 TB solid state drive (SSD) and an extra M.2 slot, where you can place your own SSD. On the sides we find various openings, namely a Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, USB-A and an HDMI port. Finally, there is a slot for an SD card, so you don’t have to buy any accessories for it. Very handy for photography enthusiasts among us.

The previous version of the Razer Blade 15, with the addition of Advanced, gave consumers the choice between a 4K OLED screen or a refresh rate of 240 Hertz. This time you don’t have to choose and you get an OLED screen with a refresh rate of 240 Hertz. You do sacrifice something on the resolution, but the big question is always whether that is important on smaller screens. In any case, it does not have to be an argument not to choose this laptop.

With this laptop, and a laptop the company presented earlier, Razer is taking little risk with its lineup. The Razer Blade 17, which came out in February, also has incremental updates, such as the Blade 15. That laptop has a minimum price of $2,400, which you can increase to $4,300 when you add a 144 Hertz 4k panel, as well as the Intel Core i9-12900H and GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.
