Really do not get used to? This is how you restore the old Instagram icon

The drastic change to the Instagram logo is causing people to leave the network forever. But don’t panic, because if you really don’t want to get used to it, there is a solution.

Restore old Instagram icon

Where some people embrace change, there is always a group that (in the beginning) contradicts. And admittedly, Instagram’s new logo is different from what you were used to. The brown camera icon now consists of clean white lines over a background of colors that seem to mimic a sunset.

Although it will take some getting used to, there is a chance that you simply liked the old icon much more. If you want it back to restore the feng shui of your homescreen, you can do so in a roundabout way on iOS.

With this solution you add a shortcut to your home screen, which will take you to the app. The Instagram app (with the new logo) must therefore remain on your phone, but you can if necessary put it away in the folder where all your unused Apple apps are that you cannot delete.

That is how it works

Follow the step-by-step plan below to get the old icon on your homescreen. It takes less than a minute.

  1. Do not delete the Instagram app, but drag it to a folder where you can no longer see it;
  2. Use this link with Safari and scroll down a bit;
  3. Tap ‘Tap Here’ and then choose the share button (the square icon at the bottom of the screen with the up arrow);
  4. In the new window, select ‘Add to home screen’ in the bottom row of icons;
  5. Select ‘Add’ at the top right and the classic icon will be on your home screen again.

Last week, Instagram released an update for its apps. This not only changed the Instagram logo, but the app itself was also renewed. For example, the app became a lot more colorless to focus on photos and videos of users.
