Recover Deleted Photos on iPhone or iPad
Also on the phone or tablet, a photo is sometimes thrown away too quickly. They can still be found temporarily in the album ‘Recently deleted’. Retrieve a deleted photo within 30 days:
- Open the app photos.
- On the iPhone, tap at the bottom Albums. Hold iPad landscape/horizontal and tap the elongated icon with a sidebar in the top left corner.
- On the iPhone, scroll all the way to the bottom, and look at the iPad in the left side pane. Tap on Recently deleted.
- Tap the photo you want back.
- Tap on put back.
- Tap . to confirm restore photo.
Restore deleted files
Do you ever save files, such as email attachments or PDFs downloaded from the Internet? They are then in the Files app. The user can save a file in various places, such as on the device and in iCloud Drive. All those files can be opened via the Files app. This app also has a section where recently deleted files are kept for a while. Check this folder like this:
- Tap the app Files.
- On the iPhone, tap at the bottom right Browse.
- On the iPhone, if necessary, tap the left arrow at the top right to get to the main ‘Browse’ window.
- Under ‘Locations’, tap Recently deleted. Can’t see this on the iPad? Then hold the iPad landscape/horizontal. If you don’t see a left column, first tap the elongated icon with a sidebar in the top left corner.
- Is the file included? Tap it and keep pressing your finger lightly on the screen.
- Tap on put back.
The file will go back to the last location where it was saved before the deletion.
Retrieve deleted email
Also in the Mail app there is a folder where recently deleted messages can still be found:
- Tap on Mail.
- Tap the triangle pointing to the left at the top left. Do this until you see the list of mail folders.
- Tap on Deleted items, trash can or Deleted Messages. Depending on the settings, a deleted email may have ended up here.
- This folder contains the emails that have been deleted. Tap the mail that needs to be returned to another folder.
- Tap a folder icon at the bottom or top right.
- The list of mail folders opens. Tap the folder where you want the message to go.
The message is immediately returned to its original folder.
Re-download deleted app
Unused apps can be removed from the device. They are easy to remove, and just as easy to put back. For example, if you still want to use the app. Simply download it again from the App Store. You can also simply download apps for which you paid. You don’t have to buy them again.
