A new Facebook Messenger redesign removes the previously added games and chatbots for more focus on chat and Stories.
Facebook Messenger redesign
Facebook Messenger has been getting more and more features in recent years. For example, Facebook put all kinds of games and chatbots in the app to give users more to do. Those additions were not very conducive to the ease of use of the app. Something is now being done with a redesign.
In the previous design, the app was divided into the ‘Chats’, ‘People’ and ‘Discover’ sections. The Discover tab disappears completely. The games, chatbots and companies were placed in this tab. These parts can still be found in the app, but now you have to use the search function or a link.

In the People tab, the new design will bring your friends’ Stories more into focus, with large images. Facebook hopes that this will allow users to view more of these stories, because advertisements are also shown in that corner. In the old design, the Stories had only a limited role.
Unroll
The design will soon be widely rolled out. So it may take a while before you see the changes yourself in the app. In any case, make sure you download the latest version of the app via the link below in the App Store.
Log in via Facebook
For several months, new users can only log in to Messenger with a Facebook account. Previously it was also possible to log in with just a phone number.
This step may be part of the plan to connect the different Facebook services. The company wants to make it possible to let users of Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp chat with each other.
