Redesigned Jaguar F-Pace is loose

Jaguar has given the F-Pace a makeover. The renewed SUV will not only have a sharpened appearance, the powertrains will also be modernized. For example, the Jaguar F-Pace will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain!

It is 2016 when Jaguar presents its first SUV with the F-Pace, a car that has now been on the market for about four years and therefore deserves a refurbishment. Jaguar takes that facelift quite seriously, although the most interesting changes take place under the sheet metal.

The facelifted Jaguar F-Pace gets a redesigned muzzle that incorporates a larger grille and LED headlights with the signature ‘Double J’ daytime running lights. The viewers can optionally be equipped with Pixel LED technology. The grille has been filled with a new mesh, but that is not the only news at the front. Jaguar gives the F-Pace a completely new bonnet and from now on places larger air openings in the bumper. Jaguar is also screwing revised bumper work at the rear, although the completely new set of rear lights may be more interesting. Also new: the shape of the compartment in which the license plate is housed.

Interior

More radical changes take place inside the F-Pace. Jaguar gives the F-Pace a completely new interior. No part has remained intact. The somewhat plain-looking dashboard of the outgoing F-Pace has been replaced by a workplace whose center console consists mainly of a slightly curved 11.4-inch display. The display is linked to Jaguar Land Rover’s new Pivi Pro infotainment system. It is also done with the analog clocks behind the wheel. Jaguar mounts a digital and fully adjustable 12.3-inch large instrumentation behind the also new steering wheel. The dial that operated the F-Pace’s automatic transmission has been replaced by a more conventional gear selector with attractive stitching. Of course Jaguar is giving the F-Pace new door panels that match the design of the new cockpit. It is striking that the controls for the electrically operated windows have been moved. From now on you will no longer find the buttons ‘on’ the door panel, but they are incorporated in the armrest. Jaguar adjusts the furniture of the F-Pace and speaks of the arrival of new seats with wider cushions. In addition, new massage chairs are available.

Plug-in hybrid

Jaguar does not stop at a renewed appearance and a completely new interior. There is also interesting news regarding engines. The F-Pace will be available for the first time with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The F-Pace plug-in is called just like the plug version of the Defender P400e and that means that the powertrain of the two English SUVs also matches. Under the hood a 300 hp four-cylinder that works together with a 143 hp electric motor. It produces a system power of 404 hp. The battery pack has a capacity of 17.1 kWh, good for an electrical range of 53 kilometers. The F-pace P400e manages to complete a sprint from a standstill to a speed of 100 km / h in more than 5 seconds.

All other powertrains with which Jaguar presents the updated F-Pace are equipped with a 48v mild-hybrid system. On the diesel level, there is a 163 hp 2.0 four-cylinder and a 204 hp version of the same 2.0. It is striking that Jaguar is not yet replacing these engines with the new 3.0 six-in-line. Jaguar does deliver the new 3.0 in 300 hp form. As far as petrol engines are concerned, the entry-level model is a 250 hp and 365 Nm strong 2.0 four-cylinder. Above that is a 400 hp and 550 Nm strong 3.0 six-cylinder. All engines are linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Prices, as well as specific information for the Dutch market, will follow at a later date.
