Refueling on holiday: cheaper almost everywhere than in the Netherlands

Are you about to go abroad by car? Perhaps it is wise not to go on the road with a fully fueled car. Fuel is cheaper almost everywhere. Sometimes the advantage abroad is really huge.

You may prefer to start the holiday kilometers with a full tank, but that is not necessarily financially convenient at the moment. This is evident from figures from the ADAC. In Germany you pay 19 cents less for a liter of petrol than in the Netherlands. In Belgium it is also a lot cheaper for a full tank of petrol. There you fill up your car for an average of 27 cents per liter less. If you are out of the country on your ‘Dutch’ fuel, you can immediately refuel cheaper across the border.

If you drive to the south and pass Luxembourg, it’s completely price-popping. Luxembourg, traditionally the favorite refueling country for travelers to the south, did not disappoint this year either. You now pay an average of €1.54 for a liter of petrol there, which is 44 cents less per liter than here. In France, the advantage is a bit disappointing; here you spend an average of €1.83 for a liter of petrol and €1.68 for diesel.

Further south, Austria is also significantly cheaper than the Netherlands: Euro 95 is also 41 cents cheaper here, diesel 12 cents. If you drive even further to the southeast, you should not fill the tank completely in Austria, because in Slovenia you can even save 53 cents per liter on petrol and 15 cents on a liter of diesel. In Croatia the savings are 52 and 18 cents respectively. In Italy the advantage is less: Euro 95 is 13 cents cheaper there than in the Netherlands and diesel is even 5 cents more expensive.
