Cucumber cools, soothes the skin and hydrates it. You can make the cucumber mask for your eyes yourself in just a few steps:

  1. Cut two slices from the cucumber.
  2. Place one on each eye.
  3. Relax like this for at least ten minutes.

This method is particularly effective when the cucumber slices are cooled. Alternatively, you can simply place two cooled teaspoons on the eye area.

Remove dark circles: With potatoes

According to Onmeda, potatoes have an anti-inflammatory, calming effect and can also bleach the skin a little and thus remove dark circles under the eyes. You have several options for using potatoes against dark circles:

  1. Grate a raw potato very finely and apply the mixture to the lower eyelids. Leave the mask on for about 15 minutes and then remove it with lukewarm water.
  2. Grate a raw potato and mix it with two tablespoons of water. After a few minutes, stir the mixture and dip a cloth into the potato water. Dab the potato water on your lower eyelids and remove it after about 15 minutes.
  3. Mix a cooked, mashed potato with some quark and let the mixture cool in the refrigerator. Apply the cold mixture to your lower eyelids and let it absorb for about 15 minutes.
  4. Cut the potatoes into half-moon-shaped thin slices and place them under the eyes. Leave it on for about 15 minutes.

According to Onmeda, caffeine can also help remove dark circles under the eyes.

How to remove dark circles with caffeine:

  • Apply strong, cooled coffee directly to the dark circles by lightly tapping the liquid with your fingertips. Rinse off the coffee after about ten minutes.
  • Soak two make-up removal pads with coffee and place them on your closed eyes for about 15 minutes.
  • Mix ground coffee with almond oil and let the mixture steep overnight. Dab the oil without the coffee powder onto the thin skin under the eyes and pat it in lightly.

Cold water for dark circles under the eyes

In addition to cucumber, potatoes and caffeine, you can also simply use cold water. This also cools the skin area under the eyes and can remove dark circles. To do this, place a few make-up removal pads in cold water and place them on your eyes.

Note: It is often recommended to allow used tea bags to cool and then place them on the eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. However, there is a risk of an allergic reaction. Tea bags are therefore not recommended home remedies for dark circles under the eyes.
