Renault Arkana – Back to Basics

Renault Arkana – Back to Basics

The Renault Arkana is a special model. At first it was only for the Russian market, but now the SUV with sloping roofline is also available in our country. How much value does the Arkana offer for its money? Time to take a look at the price list.

Renault Arkana E-Tech Hybrid 145 Zen

€ 32,390

Something special is going on with the Renault Arkana. The version for the Russian market, which already saw the light of day in 2019, is on the B0 platform. This means that the Arkana is subcutaneously related to, among others, the Dacia Duster. A year later, Samsung, which sells Renaults in a slightly modified form in South Korea, presented the XM3. That XM3 is in fact an Arkana, but with one important difference: it is just like the Clio and Captur on the much more modern CMF-B platform. The platform change makes an electrified powertrain possible. Arkana, the later unveiled for the European market, makes good use of it.

In any case, the Arkana price list remains well-organized in the Netherlands. You can only choose the E-Tech Hybrid with 143 hp and six-speed automatic transmission as motorization. It is quite possible that in time the plug-in hybrid powertrain of the Captur will also be in the Arkana, but nothing is known about this as yet. In terms of equipment level, there are three choices: Zen, Intense and RS Line. The last two versions have a price of € 34,590 and € 37,290 respectively.

On a big foot

Back to basic. You do not see that immediately with the Arkana, because as standard the SUV rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels. The underside of the front and rear bumper are made of black plastic with gray ‘skid plates’. To further enhance the look, the radiator grille and the underside of the doors are fitted with chrome elements. The color ‘Blanc QXB’ shines towards you at no extra charge. In addition, five other paint colors are available, all for a fee. For larger wheels you will have to look to one of the more expensive versions.

Furthermore, you no longer have to pay extra for LED headlights and rear lights on the Zen. A rain and light sensor are also standard, as are parking sensors front and rear, a reversing camera and electrically folding door mirrors. In addition, you no longer have to take the key to unlock and start the car, because with the Renault Handsfree Card, Keyless Go is included.

Interior

Inside the Arkana Zen, except for some silver-gray details, it is mainly black that strikes the clock. The seats are upholstered in black fabric and the trim on the dashboard and in the doors is no different in color. A 7-inch color screen forms the instrument panel, for the multimedia is a 7-inch touchscreen with the Easy Link system on board. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, as are two USB connections in the front. There are also two USB connections available for rear passengers. Navigation is an option of € 495.

Climate control is standard on the Arkana, but the driver and passengers must agree on the temperature to be set. It cannot be divided into multiple zones. The Arkana has road sign recognition, cruise control, Lane Keeping Assist, Safe Distance Warning and Active Emergency Braking on board as standard. Adaptive cruise control is only on from the Intense. You can get the ‘Comfort Pack’ on the Zen for € 495, including Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The Intense has the options available for the Zen as standard. In addition, the higher-end trim level features an auto-dimming interior mirror, a larger 9.3-inch touchscreen and Renault Multi-Sense, which allows the driver to choose from multiple driving modes. The Intense also rolls on 18-inch light metal as standard. The RS Line adds parking sensors on the side, a parking assistant, a wireless charger for the smartphone and seat and steering wheel heating. Leather and Alcantara-covered electrically adjustable seats with memory function are also included on the most expensive trim level. On the outside, the RS Line is distinguished by sportier bumpers and special 18-inch wheels. Compared to the Zen, you get a considerable amount of extras on the RS Line for an additional cost of € 4,900.
