Six months ago we were introduced to the Renault Austral, the brand new SUV that should make the Kadjar forget. With its C-shaped headlamps and wide taillights, the Austral looks like a modern-day Renault and is slightly larger than its predecessor. Like the Kadjar, it shares its base with the Nissan Qashqai, but that does not mean that it is also available with the same powertrains. The special e-Power drivetrain remains an exclusive Nissan party and the 1.3-four-cylinder of the Qashqai also pass the nose of the Austral in the Netherlands. The Renault Austral sticks to a new 1.2-three-cylinder turbo engine, with which the Austral is available as a mild-hybrid and hybrid.
The 130 hp Renault Austral Mild Hybrid Advanced 130 is the entry-level model. There is a price tag of €36,480, provided you go for the standard Equilibre version. If you opt for the more luxurious Techno, it will cost at least €38,980. The Techno version has a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen with OpenR Link and Google connectivity instead of the standard 9-inch one, 19-inch wheels and a two-part (60/40) sliding rear seat.
One step higher on the price list is the Austral Hybrid 200. In it, the 1.2 receives support from an electric motor, together good for 200 hp system power. The hybrid Austral is available from €42,980 and is standard equipped as Techno. As a Techno Esprit Alpine, it costs €44,980 and you get 20-inch wheels, a thicker spoiler lip, black window frame and Alcantara seat upholstery with blue stitching for a sportier touch. Then the Austral Hybrid 200 is also available as an Iconic for at least €46,480, including a two-tone paint, 20-inch wheels, chrome roof racks, heated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with massage function and an electrically and hands-free tailgate. . The topper is the Austral Iconic Esprit Alpine, which, as the name suggests, further complements the luxury of the Iconic version with the aforementioned sporty accents. It costs €47,480.
