Renault gives everyone in the French village a Zoe

Renault does something special. ‘All inhabitants’ of the French town of Appy will be loaned a Zoe for three years. According to Renault, it should provide interesting insights into the usability of EVs.

To put the special initiative in perspective: Appy (photo 2) appears to have only 25 inhabitants. So a very small hamlet, hidden deep in the Pyrenees. It is not known how many of these are allowed to drive a car and thus get a Zoe at their disposal. Renault proudly reports that this is the first place where everyone drives electric. That is a special fact, of course.

Appy

Here is Appy, far away from the big cities.

The lucky ones will have the Zoe at their disposal for three years and must share their experiences with Renault. The French brand hopes to demonstrate that an electric car can be a great alternative to a car with an internal combustion engine even in a remote place like Appy and of course also hopes to gain interesting insights based on the feedback. Undoubtedly, the public charging options in Appy and surroundings are certainly not to write home about, but according to Renault, the Zoe can probably convince the inhabitants thanks to its range. “It will show that electric driving is not only suitable for urban areas.”
