Renault Mobilize: new mobility services

Groupe Renault has implemented profound reforms. The company has divided its products and services into four business areas: Renault, Alpine, Dacia-Lada and the completely new Mobilize, which will focus on new mobility, among other things.

Mobilize is one of the four new business lines of Groupe Renault with which the group focuses on consumers who want to make use of sustainable and shared forms of mobility. In addition, Mobilize is the division within Groupe Renault that will be engaged in all kinds of energy and data-related services. Groupe Renault believes that cars generally do not spend too much of their lives driving. That must change. In addition, Mobilize must contribute to further reducing the company’s CO2 emissions and to improving the residual value of Groupe Renault models. The latter must be achieved, among other things, by converting outdated cars of the concern. Commercial vehicles with a diesel engine, for example, can be fitted with an electric powertrain or a powertrain that likes green gas.

“The automotive world is changing from car ownership to use, where and when you need it,” said Clotilde Delbos, CEO of Mobilize. “Together with several partners, our goal is to maximize the use of cars with simplified, more sustainable and accessible mobility for people and goods, while also reducing the impact on the environment.” In concrete terms, this means that Mobilize is offering flexible mobility services for both passenger and freight transport. Whether you want to use a car for one day or for several years, Mobilize arranges it according to Groupe Renault.

Mobilize has an arsenal of specific vehicles in place for its intended mobility services. There will be cars for car-sharing services, taxi rides on call and for example last mile delivery of goods. Mobilize comes with a charge card that customers throughout Europe can use for public charging points. The subsidiary Elexent joins in for this. A concrete preview of an electric shared car for the city takes shape in the Mobilize EZ-1. The straight forward, strikingly gruffly into the world, squinting little one at least shows how future Mobilize shared cars can be designed. The EZ-1 is all the way connected and can be unlocked via your smartphone. The electric two-seater is 2.3 meters short and offers good all-round visibility thanks to the large windows.

A striking choice: once the batteries of the EZ-1 are empty, they can easily be exchanged for full ones. With the Fluence ZE, Renault was already experimenting with this concept together with the Israeli Better Place. The small concept car is made of about 50 percent recycled materials and can be recycled for about 95 percent at the end of its life. In 2019, Renault already showed an earlier electric city car with the EZ-Pod that was also equipped with autonomous technology.

An overview of what Mobilize has in store for us, among other things, we see the Dacia Spring. It was already known that there would be a version for car-sharing programs of this electric Romanian. On the right side of the Spring is an as yet unknown electric model, which is most likely being developed in collaboration with the Chinese JMC. The fourth and final car appears to be the electric delivery person that Renault wants to use to deliver goods in cities, among other things. It seems to be a further development of the EZ-Flex shown to the world in 2019.

It has not been announced when Mobilize will roll out its first shared cars.
