The Corsa is currently Opel’s absolute sales success. It is therefore not surprising that Opel tries to keep the Corsa up to date by giving the model a facelift a few years after its introduction. We can now show you the renewed Opel Corsa in detail.

Earlier this month, AutoWeek presented you with the first photos of the facelifted Opel Corsa. The back of the updated Corsa was briefly out of the picture, but thanks to this new set of plates we can also take a look at it.

At the back of this only partly camouflaged renewed Corsa we see a strip of tape between the taillights, but those stickers with the well-known psychedelic print are probably only there to mislead. The facelift that Opel is carrying out on the Corsa seems to be comparable to the side-session that the Grandland and Crossland previously underwent. In addition, cars such as the Astra do not have a continuous part between the rear lights, the Corsa would be somewhat out of place with such an ornament.

Opel Corsa 40 Years

Opel wrote the model name on the tailgate of this festive 40 Years action model.

What is interesting is what takes place under the Opel logo on the back cover. On the Corsa as you can buy it now, not much is happening there from a design point of view. With both the Astra and the Crossland and Grandland, the model name is written out large under the logo. Opel recently experimented with this with the Corsa. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Corsa, it introduced a special 40 Jahre version with the model name below the logo. We suspect that this will be the case with every Corsa from the facelift.

Opel Grandland

With the facelifted Opel Grandland you can clearly see where the old headlight was.

At the front, things are more intense. Just like the Crossland and Grandland before, the Corsa also gets the new Opel face. That means the arrival of the Opel Vizor, a wide black ‘part’ in which flatter headlights are housed. The Opel Astra is to date the only Opel model that has had this front since its market launch. With the Grandland and Crossland, the ‘space’ that remained due to the arrival of the smaller, flatter headlights was filled in a somewhat sought-after manner with black plastic. The question is how Opel solves this with the Corsa.

Corsa-e

These photos show a packed Corsa with a combustion engine, but you can count on the electric Corsa-e to be refreshed in a similar way. It is very likely that the electric Opel Corsa-e will get an improved electric powertrain. Peugeot recently installed that tightened electrical hardware in the improved version of its technical brother of the Corsa: the e-208. That would mean that the Corsa-e will also have a slightly larger battery and a 156 hp instead of 136 hp electric motor. Count on a range of about 400 kilometers.

Opel Corsa: successful

In 2021, Opel sold 180,000 copies of the Corsa in Europe, making it by far the best-selling model of the brand. In the Netherlands, the Opel Corsa is also doing more than fine. Since the disappearance of the Karl, the Opel Corsa has also been the most popular car of the brand in the Netherlands. In 2020, almost 8,500 copies were sold and although there were just under 6,000 units in 2021, the Corsa was also at the top of Opel’s sales list.
