The Skoda Scala and Kamiq have been on the market for more than three years, which means that management in Mladá Boleslav will soon be pulling aside the curtain behind which the facelifted versions of the two are hiding. By means of a set of sketches, the Czechs are already giving away what you can expect optically from the renewed Skoda Scala and Kamiq.
Is the Fabia too small for you, but the Octavia too big for you? Then the Skoda Scala offers a solution. Although the Scala is on a smaller variant of the MQB platform than the Volkswagen Golf, the Scala with a car length of over 4.35 meters is about 7 centimeters longer than that higher positioned model of sister brand Volkswagen. Even the wheelbase of the Scala is longer, so you won’t be short of space in the Scala. Behind the scenes, Skoda has a facelifted version of the Scala, which is now more than 3.5 years old, and the Kamiq crossover, which appeared a little later, will also soon go under the knife. The renewed duo will make its public debut on August 1, but the two Skodas can already be seen quite clearly on a couple of sketches.
Skoda Scala (pre facelift)
A quick look may lead you to the conclusion that hardly anything changes. If you take a closer look, you will see that the Skoda Scala gets headlights that have more than a new layout. They are actually different in shape. The new bumper that finds its way to the Scala optically cuts off a corner of the headlights. The grille has been redesigned and appears to be wider at the bottom. The rear lights retain their shape but are given a new, more segmented interpretation. Skoda also brings a new rear bumper to the Scala that includes a sharper crease on the sides. Brand name Skoda is now written in different typography on the tailgate.
Skoda Kamiq (pre facelift)
The Skoda Kamiq also gets a revised muzzle. The LED daytime running lights are a bit flatter than currently and the actual headlights, which are housed one floor lower in the front, are also different in shape. They are less wide than before. The Skoda Kamiq also gets a new grille. It stands more upright and dives deeper into the also renewed bumper. Just like with the Scala, we see the Kamiq rear lights with a new layout, brand name Skoda in the new typography and a modified rear bumper. Skoda also brings new alloy wheels to the pair and promises that the cars have also made strides in other areas.
We will know more on August 1, when the pair will be presented.
