If you’re looking for a compact screen with a sharp image and a lot of work space, the iiyama Prolite XUB2493QSU-B1 is definitely an option. Read the review here.
Many people want a monitor with a lot of work space and a sharp image, but not always a bulky device on the desk. The iiyama Prolite XUB2493QSU-B1 answers this by combining a 24-inch screen with WQHD resolution. This yields 2560 by 1440 pixels and that gives over 70% more information than a full-HD screen. It’s a sleek black monitor with an IPS screen, housed in a slim-bezel housing. This type of screen guarantees correct colors in combination with a wide viewing angle. The response time of the screen is 4 ms and the refresh rate of the screen 60 Hz. With a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m2 and color coverage of 96% sRGB, this monitor is suitable for a variety of tasks, including use in an office environment, as well as for color-critical applications.
The monitor can be connected via HDMI or Displayport. It is a pity that there is no USB-C connection, as we increasingly encounter that connector on laptops. There is a built-in USB hub with 2x USB3/5Gbps and 1x USB2. These deliver a maximum of 900 and 500mA current respectively. There is also a 3.5mm jack for headphones; in the box are a power, USB, HDMI and DisplayPort cable.
SETTINGS AND OPERATION
The ergonomic settings are generous with 13cm height adjustment, horizontal tilting of the screen, pivoting on the base and the pivot mode, where the screen can be placed completely vertically. This is useful for, for example, long texts. On the back is a 10cm VESA connection, so that the screen can also be connected in other ways, such as wall mounting. Two 2-watt speakers are also built into the rear. However, they give little volume and sound rather hollow.
The OSD screen operation takes place via touch buttons at the bottom right of the screen that do need some light to see what they are for. The ease of use is reasonable, but otherwise works well. Key features include blue-light reduction for evenings and a flicker-free screen to reduce fatigue behind the screen. Furthermore, there is a whole range of settings to adjust the display to your own taste. The power consumption is on average 17 watts and 0.5 watts in standby, making the monitor in class D.
CONCLUSION
In summary: a sleek monitor with good color reproduction and WQHD resolution, without further details. If a lower full-HD resolution is sufficient, then this 24 inch model is available. If you have more space and need a larger screen with a higher resolution, then a 28-inch model with 4K/3840×2160 and a 34-inch model with 21:9/3440×1440 resolution is available in this model series.
