Working from home is the motto. An extra screen with a razor-sharp image is indispensable. iiyama is responding to this with a new 28-inch model with 4K screen.
The iiyama ProLite XUB2893UHSU is the brother of the XUB3493WQSU or the big brother of the XUB2493HSU, or an extension of the Desktop ProLite 93 series.
This monitor has an IPS screen. The general characteristics of this are the clear and correct color reproduction in combination with a large viewing angle, in this case 178°. An IPS screen is therefore especially appropriate when working with photos and videos, so that considerable advantage can be taken from the richer colors.

The test screen offers a matte IPS display with 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution. That gives four times more pixel surface than a full HD screen and because this amount of pixels is shown on a 28-inch screen, the number of dots per inch is very high. This provides a super sharp image. The maximum refresh rate is 60 Hz and the pixel time is 4 ms. The brightness is 300 cd/m2 and the color support is 96% sRGB.
There are connections for HDMI, DisplayPort and headphones. Unfortunately, the screen does not have a USB-C video connection, which has been featured a lot on laptops lately. Built-in is a USB hub with four ports: 2x version USB 3.0 with DC5V power supply up to 900 mA and 2x version USB 2.0 with DC5V and maximum 500 mA. The power, USB, HDMI and DisplayPort cables are included.
There are many ergonomic features including pivoting on the base, adjusting 13 cm in height, tilting forward and turning the screen 90°, i.e. completely vertical. Too bad there’s no cam for easy screen straightening. The screen settings can be reached via five keys with legible lettering. In addition to the default settings, we see an option to reduce blue light. The two stereo speakers incorporated into the rear of this monitor have limited volume and sound a bit thin. Power consumption is approximately 40 watts with 0.5 watts in standby.
All in all, a sleek monitor with not too many bells and whistles, but with a super sharp and colorful image for standard use. This excellent monitor will be on sale from August.
