Meta Quest 3 meta swiper

The Quest 3 headset has an intriguing mix of VR (virtual reality or virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality), also mixed reality called. The Quest 3 ‘glasses’ have a 2064 x 2208 pixel screen per eye. On the outside are 2 built-in cameras with which you can view the ‘outside world’ with the headset on and record it in a virtual reality. You can use the headset with your own glasses; with multifocal glasses the position of the glasses is important. The installation is quite simple and the operation is done with finger movements and the 2 supplied controllers.

With the Quest 3 you can play games, do sports and watch movies: Netflix and Amazon Prime have an app for this, there is (not yet) a Ziggo app. Both image and sound quality are quite good, but the image via the cameras is rather mediocre. Meta offers free and paid content and games for Android, iOS and iPadOS with their Meta Quest app; the platform is called Horizon. For the PC there is Meta’s free app to use the Quest 3 as a monitor. For Mac users there is not (yet) one, but there is the paid Virtual Desktop app that allows you to stream the screen of a Mac to the Quest 3.

All in all, the Meta Quest 3 is an interesting headset that offers the possibilities of mixed reality for a reasonable price.
